Chlorine dioxide is safe for use on many raw foods as well as most food contact surfaces, common kitchen appliances. 14 containers, water systems, and for a variety of other industrial or commercial food applications. The USDA approved ClO2 for disinfecting food contact surfaces and equipment in organic food handling facilities. 15
Commonly used, EPA’s approved usages and applications for chlorine dioxide include; agricultural premises and equipment uses, the disinfection of hard surfaces and equipment (such as hatching facilities and mushroom houses) and water systems (such as chiller water and humidification water in poultry houses).
