DRINKING AND TREATING WATER

Clean Solutions offers a versatile sanitizer that can be applied to treat water in residential, commercial, industrial, and medical facilities. 1

DEODORIZE, DISINFECT AND DECONTAMINATE

Chlorine dioxide is a strong oxidant that can be used in water systems, tanks, and storage lines to kill germs. ClO2 is not corrossive and does not form acid. 2 Use to improve the taste, and odor 3 in water from compounds like iron. 4 Our 2-part point-of-use (point-of-generation) technology is easy and fast to mix. Save money, and eliminate 90% of unrecycled plastic by switching to Clean Solutions bulk sanitizer. Apply as needed to open, semi-open, or closed water systems to ensure clean water dispensing and water storage. ClO2 can also be applied on bathrooms, counters, showers, stalls, and other water contact surfaces to disinfect and control your environment.

COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL, MUNICIPAL, RESIDENTIAL

Use for water treatments to prevent, suppress, control, and to retard any reemergence of infective fungal spores, slime, biofilm and disease-causing pathogens. When disinfecting and deodorizing with ClO2 to make drinking water safe from pathogenic parasites (protozoa) like Giardia, or Cryptosporidium, very low doses are used. 5 Due to highly-selective oxidizing properties, bacteria are not able to develop resistance against chlorine dioxide. Allowing this substance to be used in wastewater for over 100 years without any resistance. 6

Potable drinking water

Concentration 0.8 ppm – Destroy bacteria viruses and parasites in water [7]
Concentration 3 ppm – Poultry and other livestock water. Protects against E.coli and other bacteria [8]

WATER STORAGE

Tanks

Transfer Lines

Bottling Facilities

Pools

Chlorine dioxide gas is dissolved when added to water, which allows it to stay effective and kill microorganisms – even if they are inactive. It also perforates and kills biofilm layers and colonized attachment sites on soft and hard surfaces. Unlike chlorine, ClO2 remains effective at controlling pathogens under high pH conditions up to 12. 9 Its oxidizing power allows fungi, slime, and algae to be disinfected and removed from systems, tanks, and transfer lines. 10 With the application of chlorine dioxide to swimming pools, spas, and other circulation systems the maintenance cleanings are expected to be minimal.

Disinfect water systems 6

  • Concentration 0.1 to 5.0 ppm 55.3 fl. oz per 1000 gallons of water for initial dosage in a continuous recirculating tower using a drip pan 11
  • Concentration 25 ppm – For once through shock treatment on the water system and surfaces
Concentration 5 ppm – pools, ponds, fountains, and displays 12
Concentration 100 ppm – gray water tanks 13
  • Moderate Concentration 100 ppm – sanitize systems
  • Heavy Concentration 300 ppm – commercial filtration 14
The American Mushroom Institution report for use and application SANITIZATION AND GENERAL CLEANING APPLICATIONS FOR WATER LINES AND TANKS IN POTABLE WATER SYSTEMS 15
  • in the potable water holding tanks and lines
  • in marine and RV wastewater tanks and lines
  • in fountain drink or other beverage preparation
  • storage transfer and dispensing lines and equipment
  • in coolers thermoses, plastic water bottles
  • for picnics camping and other recreational activities
  • clean eliminate odors and remove organic matter
  • potable water rinse

NOTE: If the tank system is used heavily, notably fouled, cleaned irregularly going into – or coming out of overwintering then consider the tank(s) level of contamination to be high. This product must be followed by a flush or rinse and will reduce microbial populations.

AUTO RV & MARINE

ClO2 can be carried around in a compact and portable manner. It can be used to treat water in recreational vehicles or marine vessels, such as storage tanks, transfer lines, tanks; and gray water storage. Apply chlorine dioxide continuously, or as a shock treatment to water holding tanks, lines, and other systems. A shock treatment should be performed at least twice per year. It usually requires a concentration of 20-50 ppm. Before water systems start again, rinse the lines. 16

Water storage systems

Concentration 0.25 ppm – remove algae & biofilm 17
Concentration 50 ppm – maintained for 12 hours followed by a full flush in the system before using again 18

Shock and remedial treatment

Kill over 220 microorganisms: 81 Bacteria, 24 Protozoa, 44 Virus, 8 Chemical decontamination elements, 61 Algae, Fungi, Mold, & Yeast.
